I’m currently in a 1BR for $2400. Am I crazy to pay $3k for a studio in a much nicer building in the same area? My current building is trash and I realized having an updated kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room would be really nice, but not sure if it’s worth the price tag vs finding another place at $2500ish. I’ll be local for the foreseeable future even post-COVID

Depending on how much you make. What percentage of your income is this cost.

Thanks everyone! Decided to look for nice studios going forward...spending so much time at home even post-COVID seems really worth it to get a nicer place

like

I would pay that much for better look, feel, amenities

I agree depends on what you make, but having lived in shitty buildings and then moving to NYC to live in a nicer doorman building, it is truly worth the money. You don’t want to live beyond your means, but if you can swing it and it’s a priority for you, then do it.

Considering how much time we will be spending in our apts in the near future it's not crazy to want to trade up

I'm in a studio like that, and it's doable, but it gets a little tight, especially in this wfh environment. I'm ready for something bigger.

Yeah and that can probably make a world of difference. Assuming W/D in unit ?

Not crazy at all and for 3K all those things and presumably doorman are worth it.

Got covid from the UK , double vaxxed , and symptoms are wildly atrocious. Everyday I have different issues. I went from no fever to 102.4 in a couple of minutes. Blood oxygen dropped dangerously low and bounced back in a few minutes. Chills , cold sweats. My newest one is that my legs are so achey and sore it feels like they were beaten with a bat , just nonstop pain and can’t sleep. Anyone else experience these? Pretty sure I’d be hospitalized at a minimum without the vax

My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.
