When a company tells you they’re toxic without telling you they’re toxic… if you’re desperate for employment, say whatever you have to for the position. Then immediately start looking for something better as soon as you land the job.
Say Yes now and No after your hired.
And if the W/L balance sucks, keep looking while employed. Nothing is forever.
🚩🚩🚩🚩. I can't blame you for answering that way. If you need the job, you have to say whatever you know they want to hear and deal with the consequences later.
Ask how often this happens.
Whatever you tell them, they’ll find you. They always do. But admitting that up front isn’t something I’ve experienced. Not sure if that’s a green flag for honesty or a red flag for “sweat shop city.”
It’s a mix. So, a brown flag.
Yes, this is a red flag question but considering how tough the job market is right now, I would probably yes I'm available outside office hours too and worry about it later
It's a bad sign to be asked that. Though it could have been a gambit, something they ask just to see how you'd respond. I wouldn't want to sound too malleable, nobody respects that. But you don't want to sound too strident. I'd probably say something like it depends on the circumstance. Which is, as it happens, my honest answer.
