Early in my career, I thought business travel was a huge perk flights, hotels, expensed meals. Now, I realize that "traveling for work" mostly means seeing the inside of an airport, a taxi, and a conference room, while work emails pile up because you aren't at your desk. For the frequent flyers: is travel still a perk for you, or has it become a burden you try to avoid?

It depends on where. Somewhere I've never been and might actually get a free evening to explore? Still a perk. The same three cities over and over for the same client meetings? Hard pass.

Travel has become more of a burden that I try to avoid, honestly. I’m single and have pets, so going out of town is a hassle because I have to make arrangements for them. I used to love traveling, but these days I don’t enjoy it nearly as much.

Traveling for work usually requires visting the same place over and over which just feels like you're being dragged out of your normal life.

Travel stopped feeling like a perk for me once inbox pressure followed me everywhere. It is only a benefit if workload genuinely reduces, which rarely happens.

I have an offer to do some consulting for a company based out of the UK (I am in the US). The job would not go through a consulting company but would be directly with the company. I have not done any consulting before so I am not sure how it works, what I would need to set up (they mentioned that I would start a LLC and bill them directly, no idea how to do that), how to determine the tax implications of this, or what hourly rate I would expect. Can anyone offer advice?

Hi! I have a quick question and could use some advice:

I have 1 job offer that is an hour away and pays 45k, after negotiations (Research Associate Position at a University) .

I have just interviewed for a position closer to home and a base salary of 65k, but haven’t heard back from them in about 2 days (He said he would make a decision by yesterday and I’ve reached out).
I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?
