Y’all are too much the second I clock out I’m clocked out. I try not to think about work at all and usually don’t unless there’s some upcoming deadlines. Don’t feel guilty for not checking, the firms do not care about you. Just take a look at all the layoffs. Please don’t work/ sacrifice any second more than required.
If you are easily pulled in just remove all work apps from your phone. D1 I hope you recover soon Big D has corrupted you 😭
I also would describe the feeling as anxious, not guilty. It always feels easier said than done to let it go.
It's so hard to fully disconnect sometimes, especially when everything is so accessible on your phone. I’ve started setting boundaries by muting notifications after work hours. It helps, but the guilt is real. Still, it’s important to prioritize your well-being, guilt or not!
The phone accessibility is a double edged sword. I feel better knowing I can check, even if I don’t, but it’s all too easy. Sometimes I open my phone and reflexively open my email before I even know what I’m doing 🤣
You have to set boundaries for yourself no matter how guilty you feel. After work hours are your time to de-stress and enjoy. When you first get home, give yourself some time to zone out, maybe an hour or so. Then after that refresh, and start doing something that will help you feel more connected to yourself. My laptop stays off until the next morning and I make sure not to have my work email on my phone.
This is exactly what I needed to hear… a post work workout is always a good separator for me and as long as I don’t open my laptop after getting home from the gym, I usually manage to stay disconnected.
I resigned yesterday and checked my work phone 7-8 times today. Thankfully no action items- just Teams and Outlook telling me I am logged out. Tomorrow I’ll turn in my stuff so hopefully I’m able to disconnect then.
Thanks! A couple months off and then I will be joining a startup. Pretty excited!
I log out the second I'm done working for the day and try to banish work from my mind as best I can. I'm still prone to stress and responding to the occasional after hours email, but I've gotten a lot better about creating separation between work and home.

I feel like I’m always going to get pinged and am expected to respond. Usually until pretty late at night, so until then, no :(
I have this feeling too. In my current role I would not be expected to respond immediately but it was that way at my last job and it’s stuck with me.
