Ever had a job where taking your full lunch break felt like rebellion? Like, people side eyed you for actually stepping away from your desk.

When did basic breaks become taboo? Do you take your full lunch or feel pressure to skip it?

You need to stop caring :) some people will judge you, but that’s a them problem, not a you problem.

Some people, like myself, work through lunch so that I can append that time off to leaving earlier.

😔

I’ve been there before but I just ignore it. Lunch break is my time that is given to me to do whatever I need to do. There will always be managers who aren’t happy with you taking a break because they want work non-stop. Again, ignore them and take your break.

Yeah like it's literally your time to unwind and relax So you can come back at full force but people don't get it...

Sounds like nasty shit hell solutions to me.

Whoops, meant to call them out; navitus hell solutions.

YES. That is my last job. We had to take a 30 minute unpaid break but people would clock out and continue to work at their desk. So then when I would actually get up for lunch and leave everyone was giving me the side ye.

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?
