I think I’d rather stay in BL lol
I’m just reading everywhere on fishbowl that great communication is key for juniors
Great communication
/ɡrāt kəˌmyo͞onəˈkāSH(ə)n/
the imparting or exchanging of information or news with considerably above the normal or average ability, quality, or eminence
I’m having a really fun night
Always communicate timelines and also communicate if you’re struggling with a particular task / work product. Those two are the only communications that really matter for law firms anyway. Oh and communicate re: unavailability / vacation / times when you’ll be unreachable. That stuff really matters if you want to play the “long game”, but also, generally I wouldn’t recommend the “long game” anyway - juice is simply not worth the squeeze.
Carefully.
Tell people what they asked you to do, what you’re going to do, and finally, what you’ve done.
If anyone voices an issue with the above, tell the person who gave you instructions and the person who received your deliverable but not the person who said you were on the wrong track until you’ve heard from the first two.
If you learn something relevant to the matter you’re on, tell everyone (sure you can be more surgical but the risk isn’t worth it; just tell everyone on the d-list).

Telling people what the need to know and *not* telling them what they *don't* need to know.
I see a lot of emails where junior associates write 3-4 paragraphs when it could (and should) have been a short, 1 paragraph email. Also, put the bottom line up front; don't make your reader hunt for the takeaway.
Yes, that requires you to think about what matters and what can get trimmed. It's a skill you'll need to develop anyway.
