Faced a dilemma today - an ex-coworker asked me for a recommendation for a role at my current company, but she is clearly not qualified. I want to support her ambition but also don't want to vouch for a poor fit. I considered a general recommendation highlighting her strengths, but I also feel a responsibility to offer honest feedback. Has anyone dealt with this before? What’s the best way to handle this without discouraging her or compromising my integrity?

I’ve been in this situation, and here’s my go-to approach: be honest, but supportive. Instead of a direct referral, I offer to review their resume, suggest skill-building resources, or even help them tailor their application. That way, you’re still supporting them without putting your name on a bad fit. You can also say, "I think you'd be great at X, but this role specifically requires Y. Have you considered applying for a different position?"

Joined Cibersites India Bangalore in Jan 2021 which is now htc global. There was no CTC revision with March 2022 salary, and so far, no news of CTC revision. I know employees working for over 24 months with no CTC revision. My question is are the appraisal formalities mere formalities? I'm unhappy about the pay structure. For a 65k PM CTC, I hardly get 52k in hand. With rising inflation, and no salary revisions, it's just going to be difficult. Tenured employees, please advise. 😥

This is super weird but I feel like I can’t relate easily to people. Hear me out - I moved and lived in different continents, countries every 5 years or so until now… I feel like I’m an outlier and my life is super different from anyone else’s. I have some friends I’ve met at each stage of my life, but it’s been temporary. I feel like I’m always going in a different direction than others. It makes it difficult to have a stable life and close friends..
