Fairly recently, I had no idea what "ChatGPT" was at all. Now I am making use of it on almost an every day basis. I will alternate between the Bing Co-Pilot version and the Google Gemini (formerly "Bard") version as well as a standalone ChatGPT app on my Macbook Pro. For the purposes of my particular profession (a lawyer with a legal aid organization), I do extensive checking of case citations because AI will occasionally make up a case that doesn't exist in real life.

Can anyone confirm my understanding of a partial Section 121 Exclusion? I bought a house 8 months ago and I am unexpectedly relocating to another city for work. The house is worth about $50k more than when I bought it. My understanding is my unexpected relocation is considered a hardship which qualifies me for a prorated Section 121 exclusion. 8 months out of the required 24 (8/24) = 33%. 33% of $250k = $82.5k excludable gains. This means I should end up without a tax liability, right?
