Two parter, maybe three. First year partner looking to move out of Illinois. 1. What to partners typically spend on their house (wife doesn't work)? Something in the 1-2mm range seems reasonable, but maybe over the top also, curious to hear opinions 2. Considering moving to the Orlando area, we vacation there a lot with young kids. Interested to hear any POVs you may have Happy Holidays
Looking to hire a full-time junior designer in Chicago. Multinational agency, cool clients, all the benefits and unlimited PTO. Message me with q’s and for more info.
Facebook has followed Google in making vaccination mandatory to work in person at the office. More companies will likely follow suit.
Might be an unpopular opinion but I’m not terribly thrilled with the new Halo Top ad. I’m all for body acceptance but part of the reason COVID hit the U.S. so hard is because of co-morbidities like obesity. There has to be a line btw “real” bodies and not celebrating a state that causes so many medical issues - Ie overweight without the medical definition of very obese. Do you think brands have gone too far in the other direction?
Will it look bad if I skip the firm’s holiday party? Very socially anxious and not really feeling like going.
What does everyone think is an appropriate amount of PTO (we have an open pto policy) to take for my honeymoon next year?
Anyone isn’t big fun of year end gatherings? I live close with elder parents, concerned about COVID spike. But feeling obligated to attend …..wondering if I’m the only one.
When are we going to acknowledge that this is no longer a pandemic of the unvaccinated? Vaccinated/boosted people are commonly getting and spreading covid and transmitting variants. You should get vaxxed. It will protect you from severe illness and death. But it’s not preventing transmission, spread, or variants. So let’s stop treating unvaccinated people like pariahs.
Might be switching agencies before the holidays. Already have flights to take those 6 weekdays off. How do I️ deal with bringing that up in the case that they don’t offer that same time off?
Google is providing all US-based employees weekly COVID tests by mail using bioiQ. Any consulting firms out there doing the same? Seems like a great perk.

Any recommendations for a micro wedding venue (upto 15 people) in New Jersey/New York area? Had initially planned a wedding in home country but all plans have gone in vain because of COVID situation. Trying to find a decent venue last minute(wedding is in 3 weeks)
What would you wear to a law association holiday party? It’s not a sit down dinner - more of a mingle, hors d’oeurves sort of event.
I was always taught to go after jobs with CDs/ECDs/CCOs I want to learn from/work with rather than chase down titles. That said, who are the CDs/ECDs/CCOs you’d slap a nun to work with? And which shop are they currently at?
Resume gap: My position will be abruptly end in December (was informed this week). However, I won't be interview ready in the next 2 weeks. So how bad does a gap of 1-2 months appear to tech recruiters? Common knowledge is it is a disadvantage to the candidate from a salary negotiation process. I'm also told hiring decisions at places like AWS & GCP take time and it might be a few months before an offer letter is received.
What r the chances of a person who’s only had in-house experience for 7-8 yrs to lateral into Biglaw? I have had pretty rich experience for in-house (leading internal investigations, directly reporting to management on risks/legal issues, etc.). I recently moved to NYC (my company’s headquarters) but would love to go into Biglaw. Promotion seems to be an uphill battle at my company unless u r from Biglaw. How to start networking and get my foot in the Biglaw door?
So many new hires coming in. I just don't get it, with all the layoffs that happened a few months back and a bench so deep..
Alright guys/gals I currently have Wiley and am sick of the constant issues with their software. Is there another software you’d recommend? I’m thinking about getting Becker or Surgent. Thoughts?
By close of eyes is not a reasonable time for any deliverable to be due. You work from home not 24/7. Let’s normalize standard working hours; if work isn’t done within eight to nine hours in day then it’s time for evaluate systems, if all those Zoom calls were necessary and staff utilization.
I have been working in a startup for over 2.5 years. Doing everything from managing storefronts, recruiting, logistics, and account management/sales. Looking for a remote role, any ideas on where to look? I would like to eventually shift into product or brand management, but open for anything!

How quiet is your home office environment? I am in a corporate practice and need quietness to read documents. I live in a courtyard facing apartment. Some people don’t mind noise but I constantly hear street noise, noise in the hallways and there are college students that live in the building. I complain about the noise all the time but my wife thinks I’m being unreasonable.
What are the exit opportunities/salary ranges for roles in sustainability consulting? I hear all this attention for sustainability but I don’t see a lot of positions or roles for this work
Who here has experience using an outside offer to negotiate your pay at Deloitte? I know I’m valued (off cycle raise/retention bonus in addition to market adjustment coming)… but still 30 - 40k underpaid compared to what I’m seeing in the market. I like Deloitte and the work I do so I’d like to try and make it work, but know I need to play hard ball to see action. Would really appreciate advice and or tips for this process!
