My goal has always been to payoff my mortgage then find a really easy analyst role to sustain my expenses. I’m at my step dad’s lake house and it’s in a gated very upper class neighborhood. There was a holiday party last night and it was incredible how much people were gossiping and talking crap about other people at this party. Everyone was very “successful” and wealthy, and it was just so weird seeing all of this drama and gossip from people who seem to have it all.

VENT: I feel completely demotivated after our new FOW announcement and it gave me whiplash. Working here has been a dream, so it feels weirdly hurtful to be publicly celebrated as part of the “expanded talent pool” in announcements, but be told privately that my return to the office will be accompanied by a massive pay cut because of where I live. I didn’t choose to live here/move, the company chose ME where I’m at. I feel like I don’t belong because everyone else seems happy with this.

Does anyone else have that one person who is more senior than you that is just always so condescending while adding no value themselves? I have a director who I work with (not in my direct mgmt line) that just treats everyone on my team so poorly, so I act as the shield and it’s so annoying how someone who is so disrespectful and honestly not super value-added only ask for data/questions and not provide any genuine input or recommendations.

I don’t understand the whole “sending love and hugs” thing people say. Does anyone actually feel the love when they read that?
