DJ go with jubilee. I have this in blue. IMO while the DJ is blingier the JLC on black leather is more formal. DJ is iconic.
DJ for sure. It ages 10x better than the JLC and can be dressed up or down easily (eg with jubilee bracelet vs. leather strap be even nato). You will never tire of it, will be in rotation even when/if you “graduate” to higher end pieces.
Pro
Why would the DJ age better? Both are classic designs, and both are well made.

I’d go DJ. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the JLC MUT Moon, but for a first watch and everyday watch, the DJ will be more versatile by being on an oyster bracelet. The DJ can be worn with anything, anywhere; the JLC is much more “dressy”, and while it can be dressed down by using different straps, the dial design will always lean more towards semi-traditional dress watch. What I would do, is start with the DJ, and then next year add the black dial JLC MUT Moon; it has much better legibility and the black sunburst is tdf. Then the year after that I’d add a Tudor BB58 and call it a day. Haha

I’d go with the Datejust bc you can dress it up or down and it’s a timeless piece. The jubilee/fluted bezel combo will make it lean a little more toward the dressy side but it will still pair well with jeans and a t-shirt. Also love the 36mm size; not too big or small
Datejust thx for chking
Personally would stay away from either if you are buying an everyday watch. Sports watch might be a better choice for this.
Having said that, between the two: DJ
Other options may include: Rolex OP, Explorer, sub, gmt, omega speed master, sea master, Tudor BB series, blancpain fifty fathoms collection
suggested those because you’ve mentioned that this was going to be your first luxury watch. Would consider Tudor a luxury
OP technically falls under Rolex’s classic line vs theirs sports (they call it professional) line. And I’d think BB41 straddles that line too. Given that you have BB41, it changes the equation a little
If you are looking for an everyday wear, i suggest you go more sporty than dressy which imo, DJ is. I wouldn’t personally get OP given your current watch. DJ may also be a nice more dressy addition though

Both good choices. This bowl leans Rolex in general, but I’d go with the JLC. Would def switch out the strap tho- black is too formal for daily wear. A nice brown or dark blue would look nice.

There's no right answer here, in my opinion. Which one do you prefer? Have you tried them on?
To actually answer your question, I'd go JLC personally because I love the look and feel it's very versatile.

Agreed with D2, neither one are good everyday watches. Omega (speedy, Aqua terra, PO, seamaster 300m...) makes better daily wears IMO.
