Some bullets:
- Blacks 53% more likely to experience any use of force relative to 15% for whites
- All controls available, officers 46.6% less likely to discharge firearms before being attacked if suspect is black.
- Black officers are more likely to shoot unarmed whites, relative to white officers.
- Blacks are 21% less likely to report voluntary interaction with police than whites.
What is the lateral hire process like?
This is cursed.

Check out Bounce to drop off your bag for the day.
Are you looking to explore the city? East Bay? North Bay/Napa?
LuggageHero and Stasher are other alternatives to Bounce in case you want to drop off your luggage in a specific area and don't see availability one of the apps.
Some ideas:
Muir woods
A winery or two
Alcatraz
Ferry Building
Have you already been to SF before or otherwise have some places you are more or less interested in seeing?
Muir woods certainly is a great option even with public transportation from Sausalito or larkspur
This really depends on what you're interested in doing and where you come from, i.e., what's going to be a novelty for you? I've visited SF several times before and also lived briefly in the Bay Area, so I've done all the touristy things before.
If you don't mind public transportation and have time to spare, get a Clipper card (sadly you do need a physical card to be able to add it to your phone) and ride the bus and tram cars to get around. If you decide to head to other parts of the Bay Area, you could take the BART or Caltrain, but the fare is distance-based and adds up.
On my most recent SF visit in March, I decided to go to the SF Zoo for the first time. I also decided I wanted to see Golden Gate Bridge from the west (have seen it from the east before) so I took a bus out to Ocean Beach, then hiked north past Sutro Baths, up through Lincoln Park to the Presidio. The weather was perfect.
I personally have enjoyed these attractions, though they are touristy:
California Academy of Sciences
Exploratorium
Japantown (not impressive if you're from a city that already has Japanese shops, but I like Kinokuniya and DAISO)
Embarcadero (Pier 39 for the sea lions)
I had crazy good donuts from Sam's Bakery. I wish I'd had time to go back one more time and would definitely stop there again next time I'm in town. I also enjoy the cheeseburgers at The Melt.
If you want to go REALLY touristy, the hop-on hop-off buses will transport you around and get you to all the classic sights, like Lombard Street (the crookedest street), Painted Ladies, GG bridge, Ghirardelli.
