China Airlines is Taiwanese. Air China is based in Beijing.
Probably a shitshow then...
No, unfortunately I signed an NDA
Air china is Taiwanese, not Chinese, so it’s solid, not a shitshow like China eastern etc.
Bcg1 the racist
Nothing special, but they were fine.
You do get Star Alliance points FWIW
Sorry, I would like to but I’d get imprisoned
Doh...
Air China is Chinese and not great. Eva airlines is Taiwanese and part of star alliance. I'd recommend trying to fly Eva Air or Singapore airlines if going to Asia and wanting to fly star alliance.
Same Q in Desi bowl?
It was fine but most of the entertainment is literally in Chinese, like English options limited and often no subtitles, and they make you keep your phone off the whole flight. Not airplane mode - off. Wasn’t happy that I couldn’t read on my kindle app on the phone but besides that it’s fine
I played beer pong successfully on air China. True Story.
I flew them twice and had bad luck both times. First time in hkg they claimed I did not have a ticket to Beijing. After a 45 minute wait I got a new boarding pass for an earlier flight to Beijing. Called travel agent when I got home and she said same ticket number they just bumped me and tried to make it look like it was my fault. 2nd time two days before flight from hkg to Beijing they cancelled flight and rebooked me on a flight that would have missed my connection to Iad. Luckily United rebooked me and I got home ok. The flight itself was fine when I flew from Beijing to hkg, but the games in hkg have led me never to y them again. The travel agent said my situation was not unusual with them.
D1: was this recent? For context, China just changed the laws these past few months - so now you can use phones in airplane mode. Before then, it was illegal on all Chinese carriers, not just Air China.
OP, one meaningful observation from me is that the flight attendants have very limited English skills - as compared to EVA, ANA, Cathay, Asiana and Singapore Air. I’m luckily fluent in Mandarin, but when the guy next to me asked for “Coke without ice”, I had to translate. No joke.
