The latter...how would they know you lost while they’re reading it and considering your candidacy? One gets you a call back, one doesn’t. Just my opinion 😁
I second that. The point of the writing sample is showcase your writing. Most of the time jobs will not ask if you were successful on the motion you included as a writing sample. I also typically remove all PII in writing samples and replace with Person A or Dr. B.
Thanks for the comment! I feel like it's not necessary to redact if its the same version that was filed... it's already part of the public record. If redactions needed to be done I feel like they should have been done prior to filing, unless it was under seal (which this isn't). Thoughts?
We all get cases and fact patterns that we can’t win. Pick the better sample and make sure it is mostly your own work and not a total group assignment. 4-5 pages is fine - we all also tend to handle smaller motions by ourselves more, vs something like a summary judgment brief.
