For folks that went from big law to DOJ or SEC as a junior to mid level attorney, was it difficult to get traction on your applications? How long were you applying before you got bites on your resume?

Question for the BCG 🐋. Went through 3 rounds of interviews for an expert role from one of the Big 4 some time back (cont.)

I have a NP of 3 months, But I told the HR during initial screening that it is 2 months

Now, all technical rounds are completed and only final HR round is left. Should I tell them now that I have 3 months NP or should I wait for the offer to roll out, put my papers and after some time contact the HR again and tell them?

What is the best way to deal with it? Please help 🙏

I work with a mid size nonprofit in rural Appalachia, currently I am trying to hire a bachelors level social worker but have had a hard time brining in applicants. What’s the most valuable “soft skill” for any government lawyer? Looking to emphasize it in a cover letter

Has anyone had success renegotiating pay while remaining in the same position? The last two years have significantly changed my local market and the less-than-inflation federal pay raises are not cutting it. I'd be seeking 3 steps within my current grade, but I don't know if my management even has a mechanism to make the change if they wanted to. I am aware of the Quality Step Increase, but I don't think that's the solution here.

The only way I know to do that is a Certificate of Good Standing, which I can’t get in a day. Other ideas? How do I determine the likelihood of getting a Top Secret Security clearance? I am qualified for a number of federal jobs but haven’t applied because of an allegation of misconduct at my job five years ago. I applied for two positions at a district court that say ‘open until filled’. I’m going on a cruise in a few weeks and don’t want to miss hearing from HR.
