QC35 all the way!
I have a small head and most over ear headphones look goofy on me. I really like the v-moda xs headphones. They’re not technically noise canceling but I find they do a decent job blocking out noise and the compactness makes it great for travel. If you’re looking for a true noise canceling headphone, I think Bose is still your best bet
Thanks. I’ve had good luck with Bose in the past. Disappointed in the quality of my QC30’s though - they fell apart after about 2 years. Debating between the QC35 II’s and the Sony 1000XM3. Both get great reviews. Was really wondering if folks had insight into which does a better job of filtering out noise on a plane. Or if there are others I should consider. Relatively large head here (cue the jokes) so over ear headphones don’t look particularly goofy
I have both the QC35II and the Sony 100 ABN's and noise cancellation on them both are great. I have a big head and the Sony's sit on my head and starts hurting after an hour or so.
Side by side if you're interested. Sony on left, Bose on right
Shure noise cancelling for < 4hr travel. Compact. Bose noise cancelling typically for international flights as they are more comfortable.
I would recommend the in ear Bose headphones. Convenient, compact and they work just as well as the over ears
The Sony MDR-1000x are a personal favorite of mine, the noise cancellation functions on it are incredible. And on the side of the right headphone there are volume/track controls all available at the swipe of two fingers. It’s a bit on the pricy side, but well worth the investment IMO
