For an AUSA, how long after the offer/submitting your SF-86 does it take to receive interim clearance/until you can start working? Also a second question - how long until your current employer finds out you’re leaving (from being contacted as part of the background check)?

It took about a year from offer to start date with the clearance for me, but back then, they were doing the long clearances (forget the official name). Not sure if that is still happening now to save money.

like

It takes about 6 weeks to get an interim clearance. But sometimes things may come up where they won’t give you the interim and you’ll have to wait. It can be something like having a foreign contact (spouse with a green card). It depends on the investigator

like

It was about 6 weeks for me. I told my firm significantly in advance and I would advise doing the same to line up people and for conflict purposes, but my investigator was still contacting people from my job after I’d been cleared to start (and left my firm) so unsure about that one if you don’t tell.

I would not call it laid back at all. But I was going to an office that I was regularly in front of so they may have been incentivized to not do something awful.

Has anyone started an S-corp and later gone full time? Husband has been freelancing full time since last summer. Initially we thought it would be six months before converting to FT, but he’s been extended as an independent contractor until 2023. Ideally that sticks because he’s making north of $300k but he’s been hesitant to go S-corp in case they decide to make him convert. What happens to the S-corp in that scenario?

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. Thanks!

I applied for two positions at a district court that say ‘open until filled’. I’m going on a cruise in a few weeks and don’t want to miss hearing from HR.
The posting says due to the high number of applicants do not follow up, you will be contacted if chosen for an interview.
