Moved from suburbs to close to work and it changed my life. Even when I am busy I can come home to watch the kids when the nanny flakes or when my wife has a social or work event and no babysitter can be found. I also attend a critical mass of kids’ school events!
Close to work. My commute is 20 minutes door to door, but only one stop on the subway, so more time with the kid, but also we just really love the neighborhood. There are some great parks nearby for both the kid and the dog.
Close to work. Means that on slow days it's easier to pack up and get home to spend time with them
Suburbs 10 minutes from work. I work the 10 to 12 hour day and still have family time.
Thanks for answers! Does any of you plan to move to suburbs when kids are of school age? Or do you plan to send them to private schools? It might be, of course, that there are good public schools in downtowns but everywhere I looked at (major markets) public schools within city limits are not so good.
Ugh....yeah. My brother in law is there and is trying to figure out what to do about school for his kids next year. I didn't realize how bad the public schools are there
I moved to the suburbs when my daughter turned two. It’s been fantastic!! Such a better family, friendly environment. We have so many more friends and social outings. Good public schools! My commute is 1.5 hours each way but we have a very flexible work from home policy. Even BC (before COVID) I only went to the office about 2-3 days per month.
