Why do some people get laid off and others not? Is it always utilization? Do people typically know they're at risk before it gets to that point?

Consulting firms, how does your company use utilization as a performance metric? And what are your targets (e.g, Junior practitioners vs senior)

So I just started a new job in sales (B2B specifically). All my life I’ve been in blue collar jobs, military, then construction work ect. Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team?
