For seating charts try assigning alphabetically from the back left of the room. Label the desks with numbered stickers covered with mailing tape so the stickers aren’t so easily picked off. So easily. Did you catch that? The printed seating chart is easier to read, the brain appreciates the organization, and the kids with end-of-alphabet names get to sit up front.

As a student with a “W” last name, always appreciated when I was assigned a front row seat …

like

Other seating include: by first names; by birth dates. In both cases, students seat themselves …. Done within the first three weeks of … allows students to socialize as they sort themselves… added advantage with birthdays you are able see who the leaders are [not always the eldest]. Way too much fun in middle school …

I already do a seating chart. I may reverse it either the second 9 weeks or after Christmas.

Are there State/federal (or other laws) that govern the closure of a store? The entity owns other stores and will not be dissolving. Just shutting down one of its stores.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice with regards to my next career step. Currently in audit and I have opportunities to go for a Valuations role or an FDD role (both big 4). What are the pros and cons of each? (hours and learning opps, not concerned about salary) Not looking to work long term in both and would likely want to transition into an FP&A role in the future. Hoping to jump directly but require modelling experience.

Got dread? Picture yourself having a great day. Managing all the yuk makes for a successful day.

Start each class with a few seconds of stillness. It takes consistent practice. Most students will blurt something silly out after about 4 seconds. Expect it and smile. After time is up ask students to notice what they were doing during that time. No shame. Notice and strive to be more still next.

1. Hands, feet, mouth, arms, legs still (a veritable challenge)
2. Close the eyes.
3. Long exhales to bring in the calming chemical acetylcholine.

I have a burning question. I have been teaching for over 18 years, which nags me.

Suppose you agree that the provided professional development offered through our districts is ineffective. Why not invest in your professional development by seeking a coach or mentor or even pay for professional resources that would help? To put it plainly, why don't we educators invest in our professional development?
