Disney Streaming Services I completed my interview process with DSS early last week, and was reached out by recruiter that all rounds were strong hires, and they are extending an offer. We set a time to talk on Friday about the offer. However, the announcement of targeted hiring freeze happened on Friday. I was ghosted with no call. What should I expect now? Would I still have chance to be offered?

Customer service skills definitely transfer! I’d suggest reviewing job descriptions for Customer Experience and Customer Support roles. Make a list of the common skills (and keywords) required and then ensure those are on your resume. That will help you get through the ATS when you apply (automated tracking system).
I’d also add a short summary at the top of your resume telling why you want to move from in person customer service to startup/remote. This way, the people reading won’t make the leap on their own. This might be controversial tho…
And the last thing I’d recommend is to network. It sucks but it’s such a great professional development tactic. I’d do this in two ways if I were you:
1. Set meetings with recruiters at staffing agencies like BolyWelch. They’ll meet with you to learn about where you want to take your career. And they’ll review and give notes on your resume for free. Plus, you’re building relationships with them so they’ll submit you when relevant roles come up. This is a great way to het support when transitioning your career :) Once you’re more experienced it’ll become less helpful…
2. Find people on LinkedIn who are doing the role that you’re looking to move into. Connect and ask them if they’ll hop on a 10-15 video call for an informational interview. Have questions ready so you can lead the convo — get their insight on how your skills transfer and ask them what tools you should learn (zen desk will be one of them). Find out what you’ll be asked in your interview and what the hiring manager will care about most… etc.
Good luck and keep us posted!! You can definitely make this happen ☺️
Oh yay! You’re so welcome!! DM me if ya wanna have support with your resume — happy to help!
1000% agree with consultant above! I landed my first tech job in an entry level ops role because I was a shift at Starbucks so I could multitask and develop processes. Grew a lot in operations and now work closer to project management and product.
Especially with the networking portion- you’d be shocked how many people are excited to talk about their journey and how they got there and help you explore yours. If you’re looking for general professional guidance, a personal development coach might also be helpful (like BetterUp).
YOU DA BEST 😊
