Loving the green

Happy Sunday. For some reason, it’s 4:20 somewhere.

At long last... and no, did not get for MSRP.

I would never buy a fake. I would rather buy a Tudor or an Omega. Also, can’t imagine how embarrassing it would be to be called out for having a fake Rolex.
Btw, Rolex reps are half a grand mostly. Can’t compare to Omega or Tudor at that price
I have a virtually unrecognizable fake, and I’ve worn it once ever. Wish I never even got it, despite how cheap it was. The feeling of putting on one of my real ones just feels good. A subtle acknowledgment of self respect and reminder that hustle means something.
I respect that. It really is the feeling.
Controversial take - sometimes when I travel I don’t wear my good watches. I might consider a fake of one I actually own, for trips or activities where it might risk getting beat up. Thoughts?
Most brands are not an issue for travel - only Rolex, AP etc (which puts me in the clear as am not wearing those anyway).
Have a Nomos and a Timex for travel if really pushed - but honestly, ALS, JLC and others (let alone independents) fly under the radar too.
Rising Star
It’s supporting a criminal enterprise. Hard pass.
This.
How are you here
For me personally, the whole point in attaining a nice watch is the sense of accomplishment that comes with being successful enough to be able to afford such a purchase. Because of that alone, I have no interest in buying a fake.
The other side of the coin is that, if this is what you are going for, bsolutely nobody is going to compliment a watch because it simply looks nice or because the understand the finishes and fit in the movement. Especially with they, perceive status and success, which you are falsely representing when wearing a fake, and I am intentionally using that word.
I don’t see the value in a fake. There are cool watches at pretty much every price point, I would just get one of those instead of pretending like I have a more luxury brand/model
I had a fake when I was in like 3rd grade. It was fun. Here’s the reality. The best fakes are nice Japanese movements, similar to a standard seiko. If you believe the value of the watch is in the branding, the fake is great. If you believe the value is in the craftsmanship of the movement, then the fake will never be good enough.
For example,I don’t think there is a material difference in quality between a ballenciaga t-shirt for $600 and a Hanes beefy-tee with a ballenciaga logo. I wouldn’t wear either. However a fake Brioni suit wouldn’t have the hand stitching, high grade fabric, fully canvassed construction, etc. a cheap suit is a cheap suit regardless of the logo. I’ll pay for the real brioni.
Don’t really buy watches that can/are faked, so may not be the target audience but….,
The idea of buying one - and putting one on, implicitly - makes my skin crawl. What is it that you are signalling to yourself - never mind others - by doing that?
Get a Tudor, get a…. whatever. Just don’t lie to yourself for the sake of a two-tone bezel.
