Just here to wish you well. I pray you get a job soon. All the best
I think Deloitte has a program for people who have been out of work for a while. Believe it's called Encore?
Thank you for the advice!
If you see a position you are super interested in, call the office and ask to speak to hiring manager.
Have a wonderful, engaging conversation highlighting your confidence in your expertise and your passion.
Be sure to be smiling thru entire phone call!
Have chatgpt review and edit your resume for the roles you are applying for
I’m sorry for the challenges you are having. Try to remain positive in all of your job interactions and not let your frustration come through. You definitely don’t want to appear desperate. The fact that you are a widow with three kids should never come up in pre-employment conversations, it’s asking to be discriminated against. Generally, it is recommended to only include the last 10 years of your work experience on your résumé (needs to be relevant) although I include 15. You can include the other experience on an application if you get to that point (which is usually after they have expressed interest). It will be important to have a story for what you’ve been doing while unemployed (getting certifications, taking classes, volunteering?). You should be able to freely add to that list “taking care of my children as a new widow,” without a negative impact, but reality says otherwise unless you link up with a family-centric employer. Organizations like taproot.org provide volunteer opportunities that could be used to fill employment gaps. Wishing you the best.
