Yea….word on the street is Wachtell promoted outwards its whole M&A team. Austere times. I guess they’re switching directions. Something about being inspired by Quinn Emanuel firing its…litigation team.

Would not be surprised given how badly the corporate group (with the exception of Funds) has been doing lately.

Moving to the area for work and was wondering if I live off of the San Bernardino metrolink line, when I bring the train in to Union Station and then transfer to the LA metro system, will I end up ...

I’m really discouraged. My after tax / after 401k contributions etc. take home pay is $6,500 monthly. I have $60,000 in savings / stocks for a down payment but even looking at a $550,000 home, my monthly payment would be about $3,400 from the calculators I’ve been using. Is that too high?

So discouraged that houses where I live are about 50% higher than what they were 2 years ago, and now interest rates are around 5.25% for my credit score. This is like a 1750 sq foot home

Hey everyone, needing some creative help. I work in the financial and accounting industry doing marketing. I am trying to come up with some creative social media campaigns, but running into problems with 1. A “boring” industry, 2. A highly regulated industry, and 3. Lack of staff interaction. Looking forward any advice if you all have been in a creative rut- or how to get employee engagement. Thanks!

Hi all, looking at exit paths, 3 years post MBA at MBB, would love some advice! Leaving aside company & comp, curious to get thoughts on roles & career paths.

What do you think of Operations (think run the core of the business) vs. Bizops?

I'm leaning Bizops since it's more similar to consulting and may be a smoother transition, but what's the career path there, if you already enter at a Director level? Would Operations position me better for future roles and complement my consulting exp?

Hi all. I'm looking for t15 mba programs that are "fun" and really enable their students to get to know each other well. I'm making an assumption that schools close to a big city (e.g. NYC, LA, Chi) are more likely to fit this criteria and therefore considering applying to only Booth, Kellogg, Stern, CBS, Anderson.

Are there other schools that come to mind that I should be seriously considering as well? Tough to find online research on this topic. (Note: not considering h/s/w cuz competition)

Thoughts on recording meetings. In Texas and have ADHD. I’ve been recording internal meetings for the past couple of weeks and my work product has improved exponentially. Serious billing question - if during the course of the day, you first receive an email from Client A at say 11:10am and you read it, you then respond to it at 12:20pm. You get another email at 2pm from Client A and respond immediately. The next email comes in at 4pm, you read it and respond only at 4:30pm. None of the email responses take more than 3-5mins. You are working on matters for other clients at all other times during the day. How much are you billing for Client A?

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school
