How much sleep do you need to function? (serious question) If you're someone that can run on 5 hours of sleep a night and then sleep in on your days off, it might be worth pursuing. Personally, I need 7 hours a night and I'd much rather find a freelance writing position to do a couple of hours a week to make up the extra cash.
Donating sp**m a few times a month is also pretty lucrative and less time consuming.
AC1. If I’m shorter and dumber do I get less money?
I ride my bike for door dash and Uber eats, just looking at it as getting paid to workout plus don’t pay for gas
Yeah I’ve gotten up to $500 before but that includes going on long rides on a Sunday if I’m not busy (lots of hungover people ordering food, usually it’s me ordering 😂) door dash and Uber eats already take their cut, so that’s your take home but you have to set aside some for taxes
My friend, a tech consultant at PwC does it on the weekends and he LOVES it!!! He talks about it all the times and I think that's so cool!
Btw he does it for the conversations with customers and for his love of bartending, if you do it for the money I think some of other recs are better
OF is the new wave, forget bartending
Up until your manager subscribes to your OF and starts asking about how much for a private session
I would say this depends on your ability to sleep! I bartended while I was still an intern with my current company going through college. Much if this depends on where you work and the hours. I’ve worked at bars where they will have you work 3pm-7am the next day, and others where it’s a quick painless 5 hour shift. It’s great if you work from home and want socialization and a lot of extra money, but if you struggle to sleep and stick to a sleep schedule like I do it can make you miserable very quickly.
It definitely depends on how much sleep you need, used to bartend during an internship. They had jazz on Wednesday and Thursday and it was something I looked to forward to. The best part was that it was a great bar and got meet a lot of people and made several business connections. I’d say it’s worth it if you actually enjoy the bar, people, and vibe.
How much are you making ? What’s your YOE ? What field are you currently in?
If you are in need of more money I’d first see if there are more opportunities to get paid more…
For example I currently work 55hours at PwC but I rather go work 80 hours consulting for another firm(MBB, startup, etc) for a salary increase than work 55 hours in consulting & 20 hours bartending but that’s just my two cents
Why not enjoy the rest of your time and ask for a higher salary?
Ah well if it’s about hanging out than go for it, but bartending is hard work physically and you’ll be rushing through drinks most nights, unless you live somewhere with a calmer nightlife.
Know a few folks who’ve done it and it sounds fun, but watch out for burn out and alcoholism 😂
