I worked while my dad was in ICU. They nurses me stay all day with him since he was calmer. I was working while he mostly slept. I went to the lobby for a call and my client heard a code called and asked where I was. Long story short, they were furious at the partner who had me on the call. Client had the call postponed.

Yes - I had two children with special needs. At one point, one was at 4th floor and the other was on the 6th floor, at the same hospital. I was a single parent then. You do what you need to do. Thankfully, my boss was very compassionate about my situation. I couldn't afford FMLA.

We don’t. I wfm and as long as I’m working it doesn’t matter from where - how would they know?
I think it depends on what your job is and how inclined the good ol boy club is in that area lol … but it’s hectic with low merit increases and unstable work conditions most of the time (layoffs happen a lot )

Sorry to hear that! Usually my manager lets me work remotely at any time if needed, I’m very grateful for that

That’s such a tough spot to be in. When life is that heavy, flexibility shouldn’t feel like a favor. I hope your manager can meet you with some humanity here. No one should have to choose between health and keeping their job steady.
