Perhaps you could start with asking for help setting up pre-tax dependent care account?
This is such an awesome idea. Just wanted to say, good luck! 🍀
I imagine they're looking at the total cost of employing you. If you want more for childcare (which would probably open a can of worms with their other employees), they'd just look to take it from somewhere else anyway. Your best bet is to just negotiate a higher salary or look for a place that offers childcare as a benefit. I think it's unlikely to get that added as a benefit if it's not one they currently offer.
My wife tried it when she started a new job, and was shot down. I’d be surprised if they straight up gave you more cash. You could maybe get traction on spots in employer daycare facilities, but that doesn’t sound like the issue.
Reach out to some of the recourses you think you’d like them to consider. They usually have talking points or presentations they can share with you (obviously it’s a good thing for them too!)
Another option is to look into the data about how parents contribute to the workplace. If you’re a mom, there is a lot of data focused on moms in the workplace.
You can also ask gpt for some help building your pitch/idea.
It’s a hard sell, but keep doing it! Have others around you also ask/negotiate for those things. Put them in company reviews and keep having the conversation. Don’t let it be a one and done.
Good luck!
