Organization dependent, but on the whole, I would doubt it. The benefit of having salaried employees is not having to pay that overtime. It's worth an ask, I just wouldn't get my hopes up.
That is why they came up with “salary” to save money
You would have to switch companies, more than likely, if you wanted to be hourly. I can absolutely understand what you mean about OT, but there are still perks with being salaried. Pay is predictable, and much better benefits.
It is, I’m an EA in academia and we are hourly since our roles usually require flexibility. It’s out there! Go for it 🙂
