I had taken career break 10 years ago after my kid was born. My break was for 1.3 years and looking back it was the best time spent with my kid. I know market is very different right now - wish you all the best.
I didn’t mention it explicitly on my resume but when I met them for interview - I told them the career break was for childcare and they understood.
Market is very brutal right now and folks who are currently employed are facing similar situation.
Please don’t lose hope and keep trying :)
Thank you! :)
How long have you been searching? It's just a bad market, it's not you. I've had zero career gaps, barely even vacations, and my last layoff was 11 months long. It's the luck of the draw. Some people are lucky to find something within six months. Some people I know are past 2 years of searching.
My biggest advice is don't listen to your LinkedIn feed. Mine was hawking every course, every resume builder, recruiter do's and don't's that all contradict each other, it only brought anxiety about things that don't even matter. It's a who you know market. Get resume solid and just lean into your network, ask for referrals, be consistent about applying, and do a little interview practice. The rest is mostly out of your hands
