Exactly. It’s the reason I came back to public. Promotions are crazy hard in private. You have to move to the next company and even then it’s difficult

Super bitter and dismissive. I hope you seek help, you don't seem right.
Decent benefits (not as good as PA), but close to home, great people, path to CFO has been discussed. Nobody offers controller right outside of PA. Even assistant controller was a tough find without industry experience.

How much are they offering?
$175k
Depends.
Do they have good benefits (health insurance, 401k, PTO, etc)?
How is the commute compared to your current work, and what are the WFH (or otherwise remote) options?
What do you make right now (base + bonus)?
Where do you want to be in 5 years? In 10 years? If you want to be the controller at this company or a similar one, going to be the assistant controller is a great way to get there. A lot of companies won't hire you as a controller without some industry experience, but others will.
Do you like the industry? Do you like the people you will work closely with at the company?
Usually if you don't want to be a partner and you've reached senior manager and done it for a year or two... it's time to leave. But ...you don't have to. Your call. Go with your gut.

Take it and then gain the experience. When you feel ready move on to another opportunity using the skills developed or if you think the work isn’t a lot for the pay then stay.
