I've never even thought to do this. And no, I don't think that will do. If the company actually cared about your personal struggles, they wouldn't lay you off in the first place. Saying you need company property for your job search is guaranteed to land on deaf ears.
I don’t have any experience with asking, always have had my personal computer at home, but understand it would be a huge issue without. I guess it can be worth an ask if you phrase it a certain way. I would be cautious about just keeping it, might end up with a bill or withheld last pay, or something.
This is unheard of but I must say this tiktoker is making it sound like a legitimate ask. I wonder if it actually works haha. Should have looked into when I got laid off 2 months ago!
I knew someone that just never sent his back last year, and they never heard anything more on it.
I had a friend who was laid off and she was trying to return a laptop and had a lot of problems getting a straight answer about the procedure. They were supposed to send a prepaid shipping box or something but never did. So she kept the laptop but didn't want to use it, she seemed to believe it was packed with spyware.
