I considered making the move and even had a solid job offer. For me, it helped having a degree in Business Management. I also did some HR duties at the time including payroll, benefits sign ups, and employee onboarding/off boarding. Ultimately, the pay wasn't where I was at because I would have been more entry level, which is fine and to be expected, but I liked money a lot more than the idea of starting over at a low wage.
Try and get an entry-level HR certification like the aPHR. That will validate some foundational knowledge you'll need about employment law, recruitment, and compensation.. which I assume aren't exactly thing you deal with in your current job. I've been in HR a long time ago, and did the opposite kind of shift. But that's what I think you could do.
