Have you ever asked for feedback after a rejection and actually received something useful back? If so, what kind of responses were genuinely helpful versus generic responses that did not really tell you anything actionable?

There is no advantage or benefit for a company to do this, so they won't. Their own HR and legal typically prevent them from doing this since it it could do is open up some can of worms for a potential legal action. It's sucks, but it's just the way things are now.

You are also misusing the word rejection, you don’t know how many others were up for the role, you simply didn’t get selected and it’s even possible the role was closed, there was a reorg, the company is in financial trouble, the boss was fired, the potential number of reasons for you not getting the job are huge.

like

Or someone in the company. They just post the role to the public per policy. Too many reasons you don’t know. I wouldn’t loose sleep over it. Move on to the next one. Rejection is direction.

The most useful feedback that I ever received was that I lacked confidence and didn’t have executive presence. It was game changing for me

like

Yes, I once received feedback that my communication was not structured. That helped me greatly

like

There have been 2 times I’ve gotten feedback that was helpful.
- there was an internal candidate who had more SME on the product
- they went with someone who had more direct experience with the industry + specific skill set combination that they needed (I didn’t disagree once I saw the candidate’s profile for who got hired)

90% of the time, you won’t get any feedback because it can be too much of a liability for the company.

I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.

I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.

Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

Hello, I'm hearing product management is the space to be if you want to see a considerable bump in pay. What is the path forward to reach that role? I have experience as a project manager, scrum master, and BA and I was hoping these combined could land me a product manager role, but it seems like companies require extensive prior experience as a product manager already - so, what is the best way to get my foot into that role?

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.

Hi everyone, a question to the tech industry at large.
