You can always stay late or stay silent if it is your decision to do so. But if you're forced to do it and you don't have any options, that could be a boundary issue. Do you think having a strong boundary can help you in these situations?

I think so, but no one at my company seems too and everyone just stays later all the time!
I always let my higher ups know exactly how much extra I worked, per week. Year after yr.
I was told repeatedly that they know and there is nothing they can do. 🤷🏻♀️
Remember this, they don't care about you. If you were to drop dead they would replace you fast. Why give so much dedication? The employer works for you too. Ask to speak with them and passive aggressively have a come to Jesus meeting. Emphasize that it would give them less of a headache if they just simply log your hours down. Tell them the benefits to them if they did this and then pivot to yourself. You then say i have put my time in and reminding you to record the hours is making me feel___ maybe not use the I feel. It depends on how the meeting is going. If they keep saying that they do record the hours in person at the meeting, look for clues that could indicate that they are lying or giving a false positive reaction. Body language, eye directions while speaking. If they look towards their upper lid on their left side, that could indicate lying.

I get this a lot, it’s like silent pressure where they say it’s expected…
