Guys, my friend had her last working day last week and she thinks she forgot to fill her timesheet for her last 2 days before handing over the laptop. What can be the consequences of this? She is really worried about this
P.S she belongs to a back end team serving the firm internally charging time on only one code.

You have to be careful.. but its valid to do it. So, I have done it, but only because the root issue wasn’t performance; it was communication. They weren’t lazy or clueless; they just had no idea how off-track they were. Once we got aligned, they improved fast. But no, I didn’t fully trust them right away. I watched results, not promises. If you’re gonna keep someone post-PIP, make sure the follow-up is just as structured.

how long did it take for you to give them the PIP? And what did you try before to fix the issue?
Still fairly new to this. Have only had a handful of employees on PIP. Sorry to say that none of them made it past that. One was kind of close though! They really started to improve then immediately fell back into the bad habits. It is doable, and all about planning for the future if they can move past whatever the issues are.

how do you decide when an employee needs to go on a PIP vs giving feedback?
Not really. It's usually the last resort and rarely do people come back from it. It's more about us having a paper trail that we gave them an opportunity to improve, but they usually don't. If we know that they are pretty much done for, we just need to show that we did everything we could. I would love for them to succeed, but it usually doesn't happen.

yeah, it sounds like it's mostly a paper trail to CYA
