Definitely environment. Can't enjoy my home life if my work life sucks.
Pro
Totally agree. Hard to enjoy life outside of work if you’re miserable during the day.
It's possible to have a low/medium paying job that is also toxic and unbearable.
Pro
There are definitely low or medium paying jobs out there that still come with a toxic culture - it’s not just limited to high-paying places.
I'm currently working for a company that paid me the most, but the most toxic environment that my mental health has been impacted. Although pay is important, so is company culture and good leadership. I've stayed in other "not so great" companies in the past but what has kept me there for years was my teammates and my manager.

That’s rough. It’s hard when the place that pays well also drains you. You’re so right though, good people and leadership can make all the difference.
There’s a time to make money, and there’s a time to enjoy everything else.
Pro
Exactly. Sometimes peace of mind and a good environment are worth more than a bigger paycheck.
I stayed in the high paying toxic culture job with the goal of hitting my number and getting out. It sucked the life out of me, but I retired at 55 and never looked back. Now I’m traveling the world and living the dream. Suck it up if you’re making great money, invest it and live frugally. Next thing you know you’re climbing Machu Picchu and swimming with turtles in the Galapagos. 💙

That’s awesome! Sounds like all that hard work really paid off! It’s inspiring to hear how you turned a tough situation into the freedom to live life on your own terms.
