Financial and cultural barriers and lack of role models or support can all be reasons for not having as many black nurses. One promising statistic is that there are a growing number of black nurses in the workforce. In 2020, black nurses made up 12.4% of the nursing workforce, up from 9.1% in 2010.

Yes, but I don't think that's unique to the nursing role. Most other industries have a significantly lower rate of black people working in them. Actually, though I believe the healthcare industry has one of the highest rates, so if anything other industries are the ones playing catch up/
I think it has a lot to do with education. Not many black families have the money to send their children to nursing school
Black people are underrepresented in the healthcare workforce overall, and this is especially true in nursing. That makes it difficult for Black people to see themselves as nurses and to envision a career in nursing.
