My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

If my home office is NYC but I live in Michigan while working on a remote project how will I be taxed? If you don’t have 8 hours of billable time a day, do you leave as is or do you fill in the gap with non-billable work? While I am in the office, I don’t always get the billable amount since I don’t have enough work. Partner staffed me, another mid & a junior on a deal. Plenty that junior could help with but it’s clear he’s not tracking the deal and not gonna do anything unless specifically asked. (He’s a 3rd or 4th year) Are we unreasonable for being frustrated he’s not taking more initiative if we haven’t specifically asked, or are juniors nowadays taking a “don’t speak unless spoken to” approach that we just need to get used to?
