How much of a pay cut are you willing to take to (hopefully) re-find purpose in your job?
My Context: work in tech, company has HQ in the Bay but I live in Canada. Single, no kids, 1 mortgage, no debts.
TC: ~200k USD (60% base / 40% equity). I put very low effort, completely disengaged and unmotivated, with anxiety building up. Don’t like the company, but very few companies can match where I live
I’m being offered ~110k to work more, better title, fun project and company

If my home office is NYC but I live in Michigan while working on a remote project how will I be taxed? My understanding is that “productive” time worked will be taxed by Michigan and “unproductive” time like PTO and bonuses will be taxed by both NYC and Michigan. Is this right and will I make more living in MI or NYC? (Ignoring cost of living)
I'm in my 2nd week with Deloitte and things just seem a bit off. I've left my resource manager 2 emails , no response from him. Not been assigned a coach or an onboarding advisor yet .Is this normal ? Who helps me get assigned to a project ? When does the process start ? I can't be just sitting and doing nothing. What am I supposed to charge hours to this week ? I've gotten no guidance on that.

If you don’t have 8 hours of billable time a day, do you leave as is or do you fill in the gap with non-billable work? While I am in the office, I don’t always get the billable amount since I don’t have enough work. Seems like a waste of time to enter non-billable time just to fill in the gap but I also don’t want them to think I am not there and slacking off.
What’s the norm?

Hi Deloitte India Folks,
Soon I will be joining Deloitte India as PowerBI Consultant. May I know how advanced are the projects. And also, I see many people are saying here that there are limited projects and few are on bench. So worried a bit.
Can anyone give me a glimpse. Thank you.
Since you can enroll in 529 plans not in your state, is there a particular state that offers the best plan or how do you figure out which one is right for you?
From my experience thus far (10 years) CD/ads are better giving copy feedback than CD/cws are giving art feedback.
CWs, advice, develop a good sense of aesthetic and even design/art lingo early on before you become CD. A CD CW should know what things like kerning is.
I swear to god that my CCO (cw) just asked me to “add more photoshop to an image” (verbatim) almost slapped a few PS logo on it.

Partner staffed me, another mid & a junior on a deal. Plenty that junior could help with but it’s clear he’s not tracking the deal and not gonna do anything unless specifically asked. (He’s a 3rd or 4th year) Are we unreasonable for being frustrated he’s not taking more initiative if we haven’t specifically asked, or are juniors nowadays taking a “don’t speak unless spoken to” approach that we just need to get used to? I can’t tell if I’m a bad manager or if he’s just lazy.
Christmas/holiday gifts this year? What are you asking for? What are you getting your SO? What about your parents? I’m feeling uninspired (and maybe dealing some depression) and need some help with my family.
i know as a 4th year i should be over it, but checking a final version of the doc & realizing the partner made no changes to my sections makes me unreasonably happy lol complete satisfaction

Trying to switch from lit to corporate. Thoughts on whether to go through a referral (benefit of having someone vouching for you) or direct apply (lowest cost to the firm)?
Kind of funny. Interviewed with a firm beginning of October. Went through three rounds, was told the team really liked me in the final round blah blah. Then 5 weeks have passed with radio silence. Every time my recruiter reaches out they say they are “still collecting feedback” —- obviously didn’t get the position but, has anyone ever dealt with this? I’m generally perplexed lol.
For things that just take me longer than I think they should (like locating a file or generating a document etc) but it’s normal for our firm, I bill it as part of the time needed to complete my task. If it’s something like a system/program crash, or me getting training, or time to fix my system after getting “upgrades” to my computer, or me making a mistake in a process that ends up taking a lot of extra time, I put that in nonbillable.
I do wish the firm had a specific billing code for nonbillable time spent on technology-related issues/problems, but no one’s been asking me my thoughts on billing codes LOL 😂
We have a no Billables matter for IT issues but it’s not like anyone cares what you put in nonbillables...
