Hey, Fishies! We’re launching our first Interview/Q+A series "Portfolio Rewind: Would You Hire You?"
Like a portfolio review in reverse, creative leaders will share work they created when they first started out and critique it as if were a book that had just landed in their inbox. Then, tell us if they’d hire their younger selves knowing, and expecting, what they do now.
Drop in for get the chance to ask questions, and get your book reviewed by our guest. Hope you can make it!

Hey I know a lot of agencies want to see that your campaigns can live in multiple different ways in the world. So taking one concept and breaking it up into multiple tactics or executions. How does it live on social, tv, radio, banner ads, IRL activations etc. doing that helped me get freelance work and eventually land FT. Feel free to dm me if you wanna chat more.
I would love to Dm but not sure how on this app yet
What you have is nice, but I would try to add and diversify it as much as you can. Make work for yourself, freelance, or pro-bono, setting your intentions to have work for your book. You have your logo on your page— how does that function as a brand? I see you have video skills, so maybe on your next road trip or a trip to the beach, capture it and make a mood film set to music. You are a photographer... add that work on your site too! All these will culminate into a nice variety of work showing your aesthetics, talent, and personality.

Hey! Is your goal to be an art director or something else?
Hello! Yes that’s the goal!
What sort of roles are you looking for? Entry level? Design? Art Direction?
Yes, looking for entry level art director roles :)
I would recommend finding a mentor or an art director peer who landed a similar job you wanted and do a peer review on ideas and main massages you put in each of your projects. Are they competitive and compelling enough?
Another thing to consider is to uplevel your visual design and presentation skills. Project pages need more "meat", explanations and stories.
I would suggest looking for a paid internship.
Did you get a degree in design or advertising?
Both
Hey there! Great looking portfolio!
As other people have said, I'd start by expanding on your current projects. Especially as an art director, you need to know the "Why" behind your projects. Even in spec work, you need to know (and most importantly explain) what problem you are solving through your design. After all, design (in business at least) is only valuable when it solves a problem. That's what business people pay for.
Secondly, while you build your portfolio even more, I'd highly recommend presenting your site in a way that doesn't highlight the limited amount of work you have up. The grid format, although pleasing, draws the eye to the "incompleteness" of the collection. On my screen, at least, there's a row of 4 and then an incomplete row of only one square. Maybe try either limiting the grid to be even and "complete" or ordering them in a more asymmetrical way.
Best wishes to you and your career!
