Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

Damn. Sorry not reading all that.
I hope you don’t bill for typing 🤣
My firm splits lateral interviews like this (partners and then associates). Partners typically are vetting you and want to get a sense for your personality/work style to see if you will fit in the group. Associates are more there for you to ask questions and let you assess if the firm is right for you. Assuming it’s the same dynamic, I would plan your questions accordingly.
Also for laterals with your level of experience we always want to know why they want to leave their firm and why they want to come to our firm/why it’s different from their current experience. Good luck!
It’s all about fair pay, stability, and work-life balance. I’m currently making $75k and we lost a a few attorneys/support staff over the past six months. This firm has the same annual billing requirement as my current firm. Why pass up the opportunity to get paid $30-$50k more for doing the same amount of work? Any tips on the best way to say this in a more diplomatic manner?
The interview will be 1 hr. with 2 segments. First, I’ll be interviewed by 3 partners followed by a separate interview with their assocs. on the hiring committee. I went to law school with 2 of the 3 assocs. This firm has also hired a lot of alumni from my law school.
It’s been a while since I’ve interviewed, and I’d like to tap the collective knowledge here. What questions should I be asking to either group? What questions should I be prepared to answer? How should I handle the partner interview v. the assoc. interview? What are some good strategies to convey how my experience will fit the role that they are seeking to fill?
FWIW, I’m on good terms with my firm and I’m happy at my job. My primary reasons for my lateral more is more stability and a fair salary. I’m getting paid WELL below market in my current position and half of the attorneys here are going to retire within the next 5-10 yrs.
tl;dr, pls fx
