If you can, take the SHRM course. They have the best material and plenty of practice exams. The teachers are familiar with current testing questions/focus areas. I took the SHRM-SCP and this was a huge success for me.
On a separate note, if I were you I would go for the PHR. I’m saying that as someone who is SHRM certified, but I feel that their brand has been tarnished and longterm, investing in HRCI might be better.

I passed my SHRM-CO exam last December and used pocket prep. It was super helpful I got the premium version which was around $45 for 3 months of study material. Also, r/humanresources has a lot of threads about people who took the exam and could be of resource.
They do
join the SHRM study group on facebook, they have good materials in there all the time for cheap.
