Curious.. what are you audit managers with 7-8 years experience in a top 10 public accounting firm getting paid?

I have 15 YOE, mostly in FP&A. I’m getting worn down by the monthly and quarterly cycles of public company reporting and the fact that I have to work around them. Are there any good roles where FP&A person can work in that don’t have to follow the accounting cycles?

Currently SM at Bain (4 years post MBA) and was approached for a senior associate role in portfolio ops at a large PE fund. Been told 2.5 years to VP and another 2.5 years to director. Feels like the role is a bit junior but offers a 50% pay jump.

Thoughts on seniority? Also, any interview resources for PE portfolio roles?

Best way to deal with a doorman you don’t like? There is one (among other doormen who are nicer) in my building that is always condescending towards me as if he’s asserting dominance. Many times he would yell at me to pick up the packages when clearly I’m occupied/going outside. I’m the type that don’t interact with doormen unless necessary so wonder if it’s his way of getting attention. I always feel uneasy interacting with him but feel like I have no choice because I like staying where I am.

I have 2nd round (final?) with EY for Product Manager position. I am being told that’s it’s the same as first round but at different level (first was with Manager, this is with Senior Manager). Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.
