What a ridiculous comment. Upside of an IB analyst program is experience, all the doors it opens in your career after the program ends, and money.
Yeah, working in IB in the pandemic is probably worse, in particular for analysts, but folks are free to leave anytime if it is such an abusing job with “no benefits and just suffering”.
Haha grass is always greener, right.
If you are in IB because you “want to be worshipped” and dress fancy, you are in it for absolutely the wrong reasons. Probably worth it looking to transition out of IB asap if it is only downside compared to tech and consulting.
You probably don’t need people in this bowl to explain how these jobs are quite different in nature, have vastly different exit opps, and how culture/hours vary hugely between groups/companies... and that you will always have to work hard to make it in the best places.
100%
I don’t think many analysts pre-pandemic were getting all the perks you described btw. But that’s a different issue. The big issue is that we are living in a peak peak workload period, one we only see once a decade. Especially at winners like Goldman, phones must be ringing like crazy. So either they move personnel around / hire quickly or force their kids to suck up, then deal later with the backlash. All top firms are suffering same fate right now.
Unfortunately the way this will play out is: huge bonuses-> strong hiring->market crash->layoffs->repeat
How old are you
Would have guessed.. the perk in suit up when kids complain no time to shower...
