Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Seems like that would be on the higher end of the salary range for a CMA. I think the range at the clinic I'm at is $20-$25. But if you feel you deserve more based on your contributions, a discussion with HR is always a good option.
I think it's also important for us to know what your starting rate was. Do you get annual increases? If not, I would evaluate rates in your area and ask for a raise. You certainly have the experience to back up your request.
With 10 years of experience, it's understandable to feel you're not being paid your worth. While $23 an hour might be competitive for some areas, it's important to consider industry standards for your region and specific role. Have you considered discussing your pay with your employer or looking at similar positions to get a clearer benchmark? Sometimes advocating for yourself can lead to the compensation you deserve.
That seems like a really low salary for someone with that much experience. I would definitely start looking for something else and see what kind of offers you can get.
I have been a CMA for 15+ years and within that same range. It is hard to find a company that will pay you more. You may receive the highest pay with an office affiliated with a hospital group.
