For example if I move from low cost of living area to high cost of living area does the company re-evaluate the base salary within USA? Or do they come back and mention its your family requirement since your partner is located and you are moving ?Suggestions or experiences any !

Absolutely counter over the range. The simple truth is that it’s highly unlikely to get your counter so you must ask for something that is higher than your expectation. If you can, wait to do this until after you have the offer.
So I’m actually leaving a series A startup after helping get the US team built. I pushed far harder for salary than equity, because the harsh reality is 70% of tech startups fail… which means equity becomes worthless. Which is fine, if you’re satisfied with the base they offer, then shoot for the moon with equity. Long winded way of saying, do what your gut says but equity is worthless unless your company “makes it”
yea that’s a great point. Since you’re leaving at series A, are you vested in any of your equity? It seems like having some equity at pre-seed round is great even if it isn’t much because it’s at an early stage. I will probably opt for more base if possible because I live in a very expensive city! thank you!
Give thought to what you’re comfortable with and what would work for you. Nevertheless, it’s not a bad idea to tactfully share where you’d like to be and possibly consider taking more of an equity position than cash. Shows your long term buy-in into the vision of the organization and could serve you very well should the company do well.
Ask for more equity and possibly a remote opportunity.
it’s already remote! what’s a fair ask for equity as employee 6 and first biz dev/sales hire?
