Focus on what you’ve accomplished, how you keep up to date with new tech, and can be adaptable. I say take whatever stereotype you might face and turn it around to address it or make it a positive.
It’s tough out there, but I’ve seen companies that value seasoned reps who can bring stability and deep relationship skills. I’d lean into that. Show them you’re adaptable and still hungry to learn. That combination can really make you stand out.
Hello,
I’m 68 and I joined a company in May.
You need to sell yourself. I actually knocked out the 20 year old’s for this position, but the position is in a field that I have a lot of experience and working knowledge in.
Try out temp work. That’s how I got
Into the field I’m in now. You never know you may find a great job.
Never, never give up,
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off,
put on that outfit that makes you walk a
a little taller, and those special shoes and matching purse and minimal jewelry, great makeup and strut your confidence girl. Don’t let your age dictate getting hired. Knowledge is
power!
Right there with you.. I have built a fractional sales business on the back of 30 years of experience and a well maintained network.. it is interesting how the world changes when you are not sitting on a big brand. Experience and credibility are a big upside for smaller players who actually need you..
I am having an issue too at 54. Lately I am getting more interviews. I think knowing your shit and enthusiasm helps.
Yes, it goes a long way.
I have been trying to obtain a position in sales. I have had Zoom interviewsl )which I hate] and a few on person interviews
I am 79 years old and I know it is age discrimination, which is hard too prove
Any suggestions,
Sorry to hear Edwin. At this point are you able to go part-time and or have your own business?
I’d say if you have so much experience you can defiantly be a manager level or VP.
