Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks

Booth is a peer school to Kellogg, Sloan and CBS so no reason not to apply there. And Wharton is more of a stretch, but if you feel competitive for the others, you probably have a solid chance and it’s worth an application if that’s a school you want to attend. The biggest barriers to applying to more schools IMO are application fees (which I assume shouldn’t be a huge deal to you) and whether you’re okay asking your recommenders to do it for more schools, especially if any of those schools have different questions to answer in their prompts.
Better than me when I was applying, I got into all M7 except Columbia. 770 gmat, low 3’s gpa from no name engineering school, ORM working in manufacturing. Got scholarships at all schools. Just shoot your shot.
Sure - been taking HH calls, emailed HBS alums that are there to learn more, they made calls to the hiring manager and it accelerated me through the process. This has happened 2-3 times already.
Met with professors that are still well connected, they reached out to their former students and had a few calls about exits.
Met with a professor that is essentially my mentor, and he’s been advising me on career, personal life etc. he was incredibly senior at an MBB.
Just a few examples.
Not me but sectionmate has no business being an investor at a PE mega fund; got the job bc lots of partners and MDs there are HBS grads and they networked their ass off.
You should definitely apply.
Also an M at Accenture 🙋🏽♀️
Got into Booth with $$ with a 710. It's definitely doable with your score, just focus on how you craft your application.
