Hello, when the interviewer asks you to tell him about yourself, what do you say? I word vomit when I get this question. I try to think of anything about myself that fits the job. I'm guessing it doesn't take most people like 10 minutes to answer this kind of question.

When they ask you that question, they don't want information about you, they want information that convinces them, you would be beneficial for the position you're applying for.

This is great! Thanks for this, I hate this question. I don’t ask this question when I interview people. That’s how much I hate it!

It's a short introduction about where you have been, what you are currently doing and want to do in the future. All professional experience re-cap in a general overview. No need to include hobbies or personal information. I recently changed my approach to this question and it has been well received.

This question is really asking: why should I hire you? In a nice way.
You need to put your real value. Do Not answer with "Fast Learner", "Hard Worker", or anything like that. EVERYONE, true or not, says that. It is just annoying. Tell me what you've done, example: I am someone that will learn and fill the gaps, my last job at McDonald's I was hired as a Cashier, I learned how to make burgers and do fries, deep cleaned the kitchen, etc. (Outside the cashier roles) to help my team.
Other examples showcasing what you've done that connects with the job your applying for shows what you know, what you're capable of and build trust though your experience presentation. Next, what are you doing now? Example: right now I'm looking for a full time job I can grow at and use (skill they are looking for that you have) and learn (something new, like the level above the one your applying for). Shows motivation and where you're looking. Plans for the future, looking to grow into x position (Assistant Manager, General Manager, Area Manager, etc.) And buy a house or travel or whatever you are looking to do. I will get a better idea of why you need this job and see if your passion to complete that goal will hold up to you coming to work each day and if you're here for now, or willing to be here for a while.
On a side note, as a GM when I hire, I'm looking at success for both sides, and it's hard in the market to find people what show up and are committed as it is, so if there's a hint of maybe, I just decline. I need people willing to give me a year, willing to actually show up and actually do their job, meaning the job description getting done, and a LOT of people will do far less than that if they can get away with it. Welcome to 2026. Young, old, middle aged, doesn't really matter anymore, our culture has issues with working, so when you go to the interview know what you're getting into and sell it for real, not for show and all parties "should" be able to make it work.
