I'm currently trying to do the same thing here in the UK. Not sure what it like where you are but from what I have seen on job ads here and speaking to people in the industry there seems to be a preference to have your MRICS. If you're RIBA then you can apply for a direct route to doing the RICS APC exam and skip the 2 years structured training. You could probably get it all done in 6-9months. I'm currently working towards the PMQ from the APM and then will be looking to do the MRICS after. Recruiters have told me that it's hard to get into the role from an arch background but honestly I think that's probably BS. (I had a development advisor tell me last week that the best development people he had ever worked with were architects). Best advice I can give atm is to make some network connections in the industry and see if they have any openings suited to your experience. That seemed to work for a lot of my friends colleagues that used to work for a well known practice based in London. I should probably be doing that now too but I'm interested in getting some training and exp under my belt before I start applying to places. A halfway step might be applying to a contractor or construction consultancy and then once in make some internal moved to the role you want.
Good luck and let me know how you get on. Definitely worth making some network contacts who work in that field who you can ask for advice. I wouldn't take anything I say as gospel as I'm in the same boat as you.
