Yes and no. I have a dope job that pays well, a boss that maybe cares, I've made real friends. Flip side- where are all the black people?
Yes. Because I find purpose in my life outside my job: in my faith, in my relationship, with my friends and family, and in my volunteer work.
Plus, I’ve got a pretty dope cat.
No. I’m not and the worst part of it all is I don’t know or have any good reason as to why not.
Yes, very. I love my job. I’m in a wonderful relationship. My family and friends are all in good health, and I’m also in good health. It’s one of the few times in my life everything has been so great. The only bad part is that all the happy scares the shit out of me at times. 👀
Whenever everything is going perfect, I start to dread that something might happen that will take it all away.
At work: No
At home: Yes
Workload keeps increasing, raises are getting smaller and less frequent (every 2 years), perks are being stripped away. The fun is being sucked out of the ad biz.
No. I want to be an AD and it’s just relentlessly frustrating. I take all advice. Constantly work on portfolio. Constantly meet with ADs and CDs. Hard out here man.
AD = art director?
Here’s another question: Is happiness what matters?
And why or why not?
Love this follow up. I personally think yes, because I believe seeking happiness is what makes my life fulfilled. But I also think it's mostly about outlook and less about what you physically have and don't have
What do we know about happiness from research?
And is happiness something that we have much control over?

100% yes for the first time in my career.
Why? I’m paid well, I have a great manager, I get to make cool shit on the regular, I have great benefits and unlimited vacation, and I work 40 hours a week and never weekends.
I know it won’t last forever, but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
Where is this?? I'd take a pay cut for that balance.
Yes because even on the worst days, I remember I get paid an excessive amount of money just to write goddamn words
